Vivaldi for the Gorillas
The world is now affected by the Corona virus. We are now compelled to quarantine ourselves and follow social-distancing. Quarantining oneself for long time leads to other issues: loneliness, depression, and more. How would one deal with these adversities? Adversities are not new phenomena. Individuals have faced worse situations – being held as prisoners in a Gulag or a concentration camp, for example. How did these prisoners deal with their ‘confinement’, without losing their minds?
Recently, I read an article, “Vivaldi, for Gorillas seeking aesthetics” written by Mr. Venkat Ramanan from Australia. The article illustrates how aesthetic pursuits such as art, music, and literature helped long-term prisoners in alleviating their misery. You can read the article by visiting the following link.
